A portfolio manager for Dimensional's international equity strategies, Akbar Ali brings experience in equities, fixed income, and trading to the firm. Akbar was instrumental in the launch of the firm's international applied core equity strategies and directed the trading of the first securities purchased by both the developed markets and emerging markets applied core equity portfolios. He regularly speaks on international investing topics at final presentations, portfolio reviews, and conferences.
Akbar came to Dimensional in 2002, after developing equity and fixed income strategies for high net worth clients at Goldman Sachs. Prior to that, he was senior technology officer at JP Morgan Chase, where he developed trading systems to manage fixed income derivatives pricing and handle risk management. Akbar began his career at Banker's Trust, where he developed derivatives pricing software.
Akbar received his MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2002, and completed an M.S. in electrical engineering at the University of Michigan in 1994.
