Eugene Fama Wins Inaugural Onassis Prize in Finance

Eugene F. Fama, a Dimensional Fund Advisors consultant and director, is the first recipient of the Onassis Prize in Finance awarded for his lifetime contribution to the study of finance.

The prize, awarded by the Cass Business School in London and sponsored by the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation of Greece, recognizes Professor Fama for his development of the efficient markets hypothesis and for the scientific and practical impact his theories have had on economics. Professor Fama has published over 100 academic research papers on portfolio theory, asset pricing, and capital structure. He also developed the Three-Factor Model with Professor Kenneth French which provides the theoretical foundation for Dimensional's equity strategies.
