Institutional
Dimensional was founded in 1981 to provide institutional investors access to small company stocks, underrepresented in most portfolios. As financial science has identified new sources of risk, the firm has added strategies to its repertoire. Today, that repertoire spans all major asset classes, including US and non-US equities as well as fixed income. All along, our strategies have maintained an institutional focus: to reliably deliver specific risk exposures at a low cost and to increase returns through advanced portfolio design and trading.
This empirical approach has led Dimensional to become an investment advisor to some of the most prominent corporate defined benefit and defined contribution plans, public retirement plans, foundations, endowments, and Taft-Hartley plans. We build relationships with these clients through the development of customized investment programs that include institutional mutual funds and separate accounts, as well as commingled trusts for ERISA-qualified investors.
Dimensional realizes that certain taxable entities require particular attention. That is why we have designated professionals servicing trust companies, financial institutions, and nuclear decommissioning trusts whose tax situation requires customized solutions. Our regional directors work alongside tax experts, portfolio managers, and research staff. Together, the group not only offers investment solutions but provides insight and research into some of the unique problems facing taxable investors.
